Our Leadership Pathway

At Queen’s Park, we believe every child has the potential to lead and make a difference. Our Leadership Pathway gives children increasing opportunities as they move through the school to develop their confidence, independence, communication and leadership skills.

Leadership roles are real responsibilities. Children apply for positions that interest them, explaining why they would be suited to the role and what they could contribute. For our senior pupil leadership positions, children also take part in an interview, giving them valuable experience of presenting themselves, answering questions and talking about their strengths and ideas. Successful applicants are then trusted to make a genuine contribution to school life.

Our pupil leadership opportunities include:

House Captains

Lead our weekly House Meetings for Kusama, Dass, Wiltshire and Scheffler Houses, celebrate achievements, help children reflect on our values and lead their House in making a positive contribution to the school and wider community.

School Councillors

Represent the views and ideas of their classmates, consult with other pupils and work with school leaders to help shape decisions about school life.

Equalities Leaders

Champion inclusion, celebrate difference and help ensure that everyone at Queen’s Park feels respected, represented and that they belong.

Sports Captains

Promote participation, teamwork and positive sporting attitudes, supporting sporting events and encouraging other children to get active.

Playground Buddies

Help younger children to play, make friends and feel included, modelling kindness and helping to make our playground a happy place for everyone.

Welcome Ambassadors

Help visitors and new pupils feel part of Queen’s Park, proudly representing our school and sharing what makes our community special.

Singing Assembly Assistants

Take an active role in our singing assemblies, helping with organisation and encouraging confident participation across the school.

Our Leadership Pathway is about much more than having a badge or title. Children learn that leadership is about service, responsibility, listening to others and having the confidence to act. As they progress through Queen’s Park, we want them to recognise that their voice matters and that they have the power to make a positive difference to their school, their community and beyond.
