Message from the Head

Welcome back! I hope you all had an amazing summer and managed to enjoy some of the fantastic weather. I’ve really enjoyed catching up with so many of you at the gates and hearing about your summer adventures. It has been equally lovely to see the children back, full of stories and enthusiasm, and getting stuck straight into school life.

A warm welcome to all of our new Reception children and families joining the Queen’s Park community this year. We hope you already feel at home, and we’re so excited to have you with us as you begin your Queen’s Park journey!

The children across the school look incredibly smart too – we love seeing everyone in their uniform, so a big thank you to parents and carers for your support.

A new school year is a fresh start for attendance too! Every day really does matter – being in school every day helps children to learn, build friendships and feel that they belong. Last year we made some really positive improvements in attendance, but we remain below national expectations, so there is still more for us to do together. Thank you for helping us by making sure children are in school, on time, every day. We’re sorry that the roofing works have made the start of term a little less picturesque than we’d have liked! We are speaking to the Local Authority daily for updates and are currently being advised that the work should be completed within the next two weeks. A little short-term pain for some important long-term gain!

There is a lot happening this term, so please keep an eye on our website and newsletter for dates, news and updates. We’ve also moved our Instagram account so that we can link it directly with our website. Please follow us at @queenspark_primary for a glimpse of school life. This year, we’ll be using Instagram much more regularly to share the brilliant learning, achievements, events and everyday moments that make Queen’s Park such an irresistible place to be.

We are really looking forward to sharing our Ofsted report with you soon. We expect to receive it within the next couple of weeks and will send it to families as soon as we are able.

Our school tours for September 2027 starters begin soon – and we really need your help to spread the word. Like many schools across Brighton & Hove, we have spaces, and attracting new families is incredibly important to our future. More children means greater opportunities, more friends and families, more funding, and a stronger school community.

Our best ambassadors are you and your children. Our results have improved year on year and are now above national figures in many areas; we are Brighton & Hove maths competition champions; and more children than ever are representing Queen’s Park through sport, art, STEM competitions, public speaking and community events.

Your recommendation genuinely matters. Please tell your friends, neighbours and local families how proud you are of our community. Encourage them to come and visit us – seeing our school and our children in action is the very best way to understand what Queen’s Park has to offer.

We are looking forward to working in partnership with you again this year to ensure every child has a wonderful year.
